Project: Shared Autonomous Vehicles
Location: City of Chamblee

Rey Angeles is pursuing his master’s degree in Supply Chain Engineering and is expected to finish in December of 2019.  He is a Fulbright Scholar from the Philippines, where he finished his undergraduate degree, cum laude, in Communications Technology Management. He was also a recipient of the Temasek Foundation – Singapore Management University Leadership Enrichment and Regional Networking (LEaRN) Scholarship, spending a semester abroad in Singapore.

Rey spent eight years working in the Corporate Purchasing division of Jollibee Foods Corporation, one of the world’s top restaurant companies. He was instrumental to the launch of green packaging materials and other corporate-wide packaging cost-saving projects. He also led different cross-functional teams that opened restaurants in new international markets and that implemented software systems impacting the operations of the entire organization. The highlight of his stint with the company would be the filing of a utility model (intellectual property) for an innovative, cost-saving fork design that resulted from a collaboration with a supplier.

Rey will be joining the GA Smart Community Shared Autonomous Vehicle (SAV) Study Project in Chamblee. He will be working in the Chamblee Planning and Development Department, reporting directly to Rebecca Keefer, Special Project Manager – City of Chamblee.  Rey is tasked to help develop and refine the best practices manual based on research from the Georgia Tech Research Team and present the findings to the Chamblee staff.  Rey will be working with Dr. Ellen Dunham-Jones, Professor – GT School of Architecture, and her team, helping with data collection to set up a data protocol.  He will also participate in meetings related to planning and design of AV Shuttle demonstration.

In his spare time, Rey enjoys traveling, hiking, diving, and training for or joining marathons and triathlon races. He has a strong passion for social development and innovation, and he aims to help the marginalized sectors back in the Philippines.

We welcome Rey onboard and are happy to have him on our Smart Community Corps Team.
